leak

i put my 88 bayliner 1750 capri in the water and it started taking on water. i checked the plug and put boat back in the water. water still leaks in but not from plug area my question is where else could water b coming from?
any suggestion would b appreciated thanks

Sounds like you need to get under it and take a good look.Could be anything--Took on any floating logs lately?Beached it on something?Buddy of mine let his son use the boat last year--looked like he tried to knock a hole in it!! The bottom was all skinned up,black marks on the side.I'd took the lad to the shed--if he were mine.;)

jacked it up put the plug in it ran water hose through inside of it filled it with water til it started to leak can't tell where its leaking from but i know it starts to leak bout midway up the black part of the i/o omc motor is there a gasket in there somewhere? is it hard to fix? and or get to. are these supposed to take on a little water i'm kinda lost help please

Gene welcome to iboats.

You have seals leaking in the outdrive (well it sounds that way)........ you have three choices

1. Get a manual for your putdrive and tackle the problem ....
2. Find a mechanic who still works on OMC outdrives....
3. You will not like the third choice...... SINK! :eek:
