Im going to go ahead and thank in advance for the help! I have noticed a leak going into my bilge. It doesnt ,matter if the boat is on muffs or in the water. It runs down right under the y-pipe along the transom. I have done some research on the forum, and havent found anything that particularly addresses my concern. Now my bilge is all grimy, and Im assuming it is from the exhaust with the water... although I dont really smell the exhaust inside the engine compartment. Im assuming my y-pipe is either loose or has a hole in it from corrosion. I have an 89 Baja Sunsport with a 4.3LX Mercruiser with an Alpha One. Has anyone ever heard of the bolts coming loose that connect the Y with the outdrive? Also, in my passenger side idle relief port, I have a bracket of some sort in the hole there, just about 3 inches long. Looks like the bracket one might see that stablizes a radio in a boat that hooks to the back of it and is bendable to be attached to an anchor. How do I go about fixing this leak? Ive already identified it, just need to know how to fix it. Thanks again for your research and help with this. A very appreciative fellow boater...

Re: Leak, please help!

exaust flapper may have broken loose and wore a hole in the Y pipe.
pull the drive checking for water in the boot.if no water is found, remove the exaust boot/bellows and cap the transom end,
Drain the exaust manifolds and risers, remove the risers and try to fill the Y pipe with water.
a leak would be evident.if it leaks , pull the motor and check Y pipe mounting bolts, O ring,
and for a corroded hole in the bottom of the Y pipe

Re: Leak, please help!

I will pull the outdrive this evening when it cools down a bit outside.... I just had the bellows replaced and gimbal bearing along with the impeller. Should this not have been caught when they did the water test for the impeller? Thanks for your help!
