I have a 12' Semi-V aluminum boat that is leaking in one of the seams in the bow of the boat. I was wondering what you guys would recommend as far as fixing this problem. I was thinking of using a waterproof caulk of somekind or J-B Weld and running it along both the inside and outside of the seams. Any kind of information would be very helpful.

Thanks,

Gluvit is an epoxy made exactly for that purpose. It is made by marine tex. It's an easy fix.

Cabela's sells a stick that can be melted with a propane torch to seal rivets and seams. It costs $9 so it is a cheap way to patch a small leak. It can be sanded and painted and is very durable. It is made by 3M and I've used it on my 12' aluminum boat. Gluvit is a stronger, more permanent solution but if you're looking to save some $$ I recommend this. I orded it from the website.

Good luck and welcome to the site!

Re: Leak in aluminum boat

All you need is JB weld, it will work great.
I had a half inch wide gash in an 12 ft aluminum boat. It was about 2 inches long. And turned the boat upside down and filled it from the bottom side, and it could not be more water tight. I don't use the boat much, but i did this 2 years ago and it has held up fine
