So when your looking outside today how many trees are turned and the leaves are dropping?

Up here the trees in our yard are 50/50 green or turned and maybe a few dozen on the ground.
Now this is going to make for a miserable spring clean up due to the wet, slimey decaying leafs that should have been picked up but did not hit the ground till after the snow falls.

OH, and who still has to cut the grass at least one more time?

Re: Leaf check

The only leaves left on the trees are the scrub oaks. They stay on all winter, well, most of them...... Yep, need to mow the school "one more time". They always wait until the leaves fall so I can mulch them up...... But, that's it!

I'm guessing about 60 - 70% of the leaves have changed. Maybe half are down on the ground. No grass cutting here. Live in a condo. :D

We went to visit Norwood, in Howard Sterndrive's neck of the woods last weekend and just happened to get up in a helicopter. Here are some pics.

Re: Leaf check

All the leaves are down here. Just finished picking up the last of the leaves and hauling to the local compost yesterday afternoon. Can't burn them in town anymore. :(

Happened to take a drive through northern WI Oct 6th and hit the peak of color.

Re: Leaf check

Leaves just started turning last week. Couple weeks behind this year. Usually on the ground by Halloween, but not this year! 18 straight months now of above average monthly temps. Waistin' alot of fuel expecting fish species to be in location when they are not. Even the local farms are behind for fall varieties.

50/50 green and turned in Central Illinois. The maples are dropping like crazy which, according to the newspaper, is mostly due to the drought.

Re: Leaf check

Starting to look brown in the Twin Cities. We had some beautiful fall colors for at least a week or two though. I blew out the gutters and bagged with the lawnmower once, and I will have another big mow this weekend and then the rest is bagged into Halloween decorations or left to blow down the blvd.

My neighborhood looks like a checkered board right now, the folks who mow a lot to stay on top of leaves, and the folks like me who do it in larger "sessions".

I back two 1/2 tons to each-other on the road, drop some tarps in there beds...and when it's all said and done, me and the misses drive em both to the compost and yank the tarps outta the beds.

I can get in and out of the compost before most people realize which pile there leaves belong in.

The compost isn't as exciting as watching a ramp...but it's a close 2nd with the DMV right up there too. :)

Re: Leaf check

The ash trees and honey locusts have dropped. The wind yesterday cleaned my ash tree. The Aristocrat pears are green and holding; they seem to need a hard freeze.

Mowed the front today and plan to do the back tomorrow since I have to use the push mower because of all new grass seedlings. That new stuff can't take the rider. And sadly to keep it sharp I guess I may have to do one more time after this.

Well its cooling down, we have had more rain in the last few days than we had since july 1 and the leaves are a falling thank goodness.

Time to get the rakes out.

How well does a rear bagger pick up leaves once you mowed them??

Re: Leaf check

Well, I need to mow the grass now, then I will have to do it again just before Thanksgiving, that will be little grass and lotta leaves, put out Christmas decorations in yard, no mowing until after Jan 1st when I pull the decorations and put them up. That will be a leaf mowing, few weeds and no grass. Couple more leaf mowings before the grass comes back. That is the way it goes down here in the South. OH and my water stays soft so I can boat some too. :D
