Laying teak decking

I've been looking at how to lay a teak deck on the sole of my Carolina skiff. There is a lot of conflicting information out there but I found this link that looks good. If anyone else is interested in doing a similar project. The author is layingit onto a ply base but the same technique could easily be adapted for fiber glass.

That looks kind of like laying a teak veneer onto existing deck. Looks like it would work ok.

But I'd personally prefer something more solid wood, or not at all. I've got an older boatbuilding book that talks about how to make grilles or decking out of teak, including caulking and such so you have a solid teak deck. Might be fun to try sometime.

If you want more information on covering an existing deck with teak strips, just look up techniques for applying a veneer to furniture or similar.. they have a lot in common.
