Re: Lawyer

That's Great news SBN......please let us know when all this is settled. I know it will probably be a long time since you are dealing with a bank and their attempts to get some of their money back from a bank mistake, but still have fingers crossed for you.

Re: Lawyer

well, looks like you will need a lawyer for sure
SBN. the good thing is you can show "due diligence"
on your part by checking with the bank before
signing the check. it takes a big tractor to pull
a penny out of a banks A--, so I expect them to
try to hang it on you. if you can break even on
this deal, you are a lucky man!
good luck and keep us posted!
M.Y.

Re: Lawyer

Sounds like a twist on the old Pigeon Drop. Good luck on this SBN. Did the bank in question actually issue the check from a bad payment to them or mistakenly verify a bogus check as good?

Re: Lawyer

WHAT A STORY! received today via e-mail....
sorry, long post.

ATTN: I am Cheif mrs Zainab Momoh, the wife of former minister of finance of the Republic of Sierra Leone and also diamond and gold merchant by honourable Haruna Momoh, who died in December 4th 2000 in free town, Sierra Leone as a result of political crisis in the country. I am writing you in absolute confidence primarily to seek your assistance in transferring our cash of seventeen million dollars ($17.000.000) now in the custody of a security company firm here in Abidjan to your private account pending our arrival to your country. Source of the money: My late husband, honourable Haruna Momoh is a native of mende district in the northern province of Sierra Leone. He owned a large field of diamond and gold plantation before he became a finance minister and later died at the peak of the civil war between the rebel force of major Paul Koroma and the government troops. My son, Musa Momoh and I, C heif Mrs Zainab Momoh moved to Abidjan with the help of United Nation peace keeping force (UN) troops who gave us humanitarian help by crossing us through their special duty boat to Abidjan. Our only hope lies on the only one metallic iron trunk box which we deposited at the security company located here in Abidjan,as family valuable for security reasons. To this effect this transaction: I humbly solicit your assistance in the following ways: (1)To assist me claim the box from the security company as a co-beneficiary. (2)To transfer this money in your name to your country for partnership investment with my son, Musa. (3To make a good arrangement for a joint business investment on our behalf in your country and you as the care taker as a citizen of the country. Most importantly, the security company official does not know the exact content of the boxes, because it was declared as family valuables. The whole documents issued after the deposit are in my possession. These documents shall be forwarded to you on request when needs be. For your assistance, I concede 20% of this money for your efforts and assistance, also another 5% will be map out for all the expenses that may occur during the transaction. Lastly, I urge you to keep this transaction strictly confidential. Please try to reach us as soon as you get this letter. My son, Musa, falls sick everyday but I believe it is because of the environmental climate here in the asylum camp or the death of his only sister Amina, my only daughter or his fathers death also contributes to his sicknesses. All my savings has been used for medications. Lest I forget,we ought to have sought for an assistance all these while, but we could not do so due to our long stay at the re fugee camp here,we only got permission to outside the camp recently due to my son's frequent illness. Thanks and hoping to hear from you soon. May God richly Bless us. Cheif Mrs ZAINAB Momoh

Re: Lawyer

First off, I want to apologize for not keeping everyone up to date on what was going on.
It was a tricky deal and I could not say to much.
I have been working with the FBI, bank, and the Nigerian police and am glad to say that we set a trap and this guy fell for it and they have arrested him and the bank is trying whatever they have to do to prosecute him.
I have my money and the Ranger, so I came out on top of this one.
The bank admitted to making a mistake by not notifying all their branches of this going on and the FBI and my local state police told them that this was the best solution for trying to get their money back cause I had ask them to make sure the check was good and they cleared it and cashed it.
So this is a great ending to what could have been a bad outcome on my part.
Of course I will have to go to court to testify, but that's ok by me. I'm just glad they got the guy and what they do now is up to them.
I want to thank all you people for your support while all this was going on, but like I said, I could not say to much for you never know who is reading these post.
Just a side note, believe it or not, I had another person contact me on a camper I had for sale with the same deal.
I told him the camper was sold, but had a boat for sale and he wrote back and said that was fine, he would buy it. :D
Well all I did was hit the DELETE button on that. LOL.
Again, thanks all. :)

Re: Lawyer

Did the bank take back the other portion of the money? Did they allow you to recoup the @3500.00 you sent the crook and then you give them the rest? just wondering. At least you didnt lose any $$ and still have the vehicle.

Re: Lawyer

I got the vehicle and the money that was left cause the other money was gone.
They came to figure the same way that I had seen it.
Why should I have to pay for their mistake.
They are going after him for the full amount that the check was for.
BTW, they have gotten 2 more in since mine.
Sounds like to me that they need to do some updating on their system or something.

SBN, I am sure glad that one of these came out in the good guys favor. Good job on helping set the trap. It will mean at least one less person out their is scammed. I hope they catch the others doing this and they go to prison for a long time. They have bilked too many people out of their life savings.

I just today rec'd by regular mail, from Togo(next to Nigeria), A letter very similar to Slowly Sinkings. It was addressed to me by someone supposedly in my occupation. WIth all the talk about identity theft, this is frightening stuff.
