Is it rustproof? If not, it will not have much of a life as boats are real damp. Is it a brushless motor, or does it have all kinds of nasty sparks jumping from the brushes, like a conventional vacuum cleaner? I would be pretty concerned, especially if you tried to vacuum some dirt out of the bilge.....

If he were to vacuum out the bilge, do you think he would dismount the entire vac unit and bring it with him, or maybe just use the 40' hose?

Fireman, I would think gas fumes can travel 40 feet inside a vacuum hose, in a few seconds....no?

I remember vacuuming my old runabout out with my mom's electrolux, when I was a kid. Eventhough the boat was damp with mostly rainwater, that vacuum was real rusty in a real short time. Mom never seemed to catch on, which was real good for my safety....
