i have a late 70's 850 merc that won't shut down when i turn the key off. i have to choke it to kill it. has anyone experienced this? if so what could the problem be?
My brother had this issue..In his case it was a bad ignition switch. If it started out of no ware thats where i would start its a easy cheap fix....if it started after engine work was done check your wires and see if the are in the proper place. In that case you would need the wire diagram to trace them....could be a cross keeping power to the coil.
