late 60s early 70s evinrude electric shift

where does the two wires connect for the electric shift that come out from the lower unit out past the motor. also someone told me that muffs wont work that it needs to be in a barrel but will i see water come out anywhere

just bought this boat the 2 wires for the shift are not connected. where do they connect to? they are connected to the lower unit but not the other side. please help:facepalm:

Those wires run to the control box that mounts at the helm.

do you know witch wires they connect to and i put the motor in a barrel if i had to much 2cycle would that couse oil to be in the water? also is there a spot water should come back out someone else said no

The wires hook to the harness plug which connects to the cable to the control box.
