For you guys who have trouble launching because of short ramps or whatever, have you tried a dropped hitch? Not to TOW with, just to launch & retrieve. This one even has a steel roller wheel beneath it...

Takes about 2 minutes to change before launching, and with the nose of the trailer that much lower the boat will float off with the trailer MUCH less farther down the ramp.

The limiting factor is the trailer jack, getting low enough to reach the lower hitch, or possibly hitting the crest of the ramp on the way down. If you have a swivel jack, should be no problem. A friend has 2 swivel jacks on a large sailboat trailer just for this purpose-

I'm at 23ft now. I think we are going to look at 25-28's. I've got a lot of research, budget planning and looking to do. We're not going to do anything till Dec or Jan, figure I can get more boat for the money.

If you can find them for sale, Lots more available now durring the boating season.

Re: Largest boat you can practically trailer?

Issue with most places here in OK is usually the ramp length at most ramp locations. It's not about the angle of the trailer to get in deeper water, it's because 20' from the water line the ramp drops off which would leave your trailer on its frame. You could get the boat launched, but getting the trailer back out especially with a boat on it, could damage some things, if not be entirely impossible. You just have to find locations that have sufficient facilities, especially during times of low water/tide.
