Hello everyone

This is a nice quick question. I'm using Vinyl Ester for my rebuild. When laminating 2 pieces of 3/4 inch marine ply for my stringers, in order to bond them together, what do I use:
a) Thickened vinyl ester resin?, or
b) straight vinyl ester resin?, or
c) a layer of CSM and vinyl ester resin?

Cheers in advance.

Most people overthink things.

I have used a notched trowel, however a bondo spreader works too.

I used Loctite PL urethane construction adhesive on mine with a notched trowel. I had some time to kill though as it takes 72 hours for the PL to finish gassing out. Worked really well for me. Good luck with your build.

Titebond III. When cured is Waterproof and the wood plys will come apart before the TBIII joint will!!! Really good stuff

Well, I did option "C" when I was bonding plywood together. Not that there is anything wrong with the other adhesive methods, but we (iBoats forum) have seen some compatibility issues with PL adhesive and resin in projects in the past. So, I stayed with resin and figured that the CSM would take up the slack for any variations in the surface of the wood.

Got to clamp it good, regardless for the method. :thumb:
