Re: Lake Mohave

Yep, Saturday April 8, 2006 should be it. Hope DR would be okay too with his work's schedule.

By the way, reading from the archive, I noticed you are the expert in this Colorado region boating. I am relatively new in this, I only went to Lake Mead, Mohave, and the River by Laughlin once each places; and that was some 16 years ago. Then sold the boat few years thereafter, until last year when we acquired another. And so far, we've only been to nowhere else but Lake Havasu.

I remember spending a day in a little "island" -all by ourself- about 2 miles out off the Lake Mead Marina; picnicking, swimming, skying...Oh, that was the best fun day on the water for us! And I guess, from reading your Lake Mead's reports, "I haven't seen nothing yet!" I am looking forward to experiencing more of the discoveries in this amazing region in the future...

But then, on other excursion to the River by Laughlin, due to my lack of knowledge, I hit a rock-ouch!! (even though I tried to manuever around them)-damaged the prop, but still managed to get going, luckily.

Clearly, I have a lot to learn from all of you
experts!

How interesting, I go through Brea and Fullerton everyday on the way to work to Anaheim; in fact I used to be in Fullerton SBC central Office on Amerige St. from 1997 till 2003. I am pretty sure someday we get to meet before April 8th.

Re: Lake Mohave

Sam,

That's the first place that I hit bottom with my first boat. Nasty rock bar that is hard to see . . .

Anyway, there is a lot to know, and you just keep learning. I stick to the lakes and Parker. Parker is definitely the river, current etc., but the bottom is much easier to know. I usually don’t go between Topock and Laughlin or below Parker anymore at all.

DR is the expert in the Eastern parts of Lake Mead and the Grand Canyon entrance.

I will repost the iboats west event separately and also make a note on Dockside Chat soon. See if we can gather a few more peoples . . .

I lived on Amerige St. for a couple of years when I was 19 - 20 ;)

Re: Lake Mohave

Just read this post and it peaked my interest. We were at Havasu for the 1st time the last week of Oct. Stayed at the Nautical Inn. Had a great room and not that bad of a price (compared to the summer rates)

I see there is a trip being planned for April 8th weekend. Room for more? I may be able to get a 4-day weekend.

I'm in Thousand Oaks. How do you like up there at Nac.? Nice lake, gets a little squirelly in the summer. Haven't been up there in years.

What's the weather like this time of year? Good boating?

Watered,I know T.O. well,We moved to T.O.in 61 when my dad bought a house there, then the slab cracked 3" ,The Builder had to buy it back along with 100"s more, then moved to Camarillo.I had a lot of business in Westlake,Designed and built the entrance to Westlake Island, remodled Ladin Lincoln/Mercury,Retrofited the LaVenta Bridge, and Framed loads of homes in North Ranch,Sunset hills,Chantclair,Etc.
Sorry to rant but you live in a very special place to me.
Naci is great,Came to build a Lake House in 2000,and never went back, just sold every thing and stayed,Thought I would retire here and build a few houses but their buying them As fast as we can build them.No time to even fish anymore.
The lake is full and the place is just booming unbelieveable. Its not as wild as it seems or I'm just use to it.
Come by and say Hi sometime. :p
