Re: Lake mead this weekend!!

I hoped this wouldn't happen! After all these years, the low lake level and construction has taken it's toll on Echo Bay now, one of the hardiest long time marinas. We spent many evenings there in the lounge telling lake stories and even getting on the karaoke machine with Ron Pratte buying us drinks (maybe to stop ) We had some great times and good meals at that restaurant & bar. I hope it re-opens soon:(

ahhh yes...the karaoke in the bar. Been there a few times with my sister. Great times, the locals there treated everyone like family. Actually we helped them close it up a few times :D

I wonder if Forever Resorts had anything to do with the demise of Echo's hotel/restaurant. 7 Crown had been there for as long as I can remember and I'm guessing they might have lost some customer's due to the ownership change, different staff, no houseboat rentals.

Even if Forever still had houseboat rentals available, I'm not sure people would be going back. 7 Crown was the "low cost" alternative to Lake Mead. There are many (me included) that can't spend $2-3000 on a houseboat rental, but $750-1000 was do-able.

I guess there were a lot of factors that caused the closure, but I was sure sorry to see 7 Crown go.

I agree. Forever came in and wiped out the affordable houseboats, the ones that I also could afford. For almost one night on one of theirs you could have had 3 nights on a 7 crowns. I think the hotel rooms even went up a few bucks too. Seven crowns had been there 38 years.
What i dont understand is they just re-paved the WHOLE parking lot from the hotel doors all the way over to the boat shop/land fuel pumps so its all connected. And thats since forever has had the place. I would like to think that with all that money spent the hotel will open again sometime next year but who knows. Honestly the restaurant went way downhill the last 5 years so i can see that closing.
The other good thing is it is mandatory for whoever is operating the place to ALWAYS have a launch ramp, fuel dock and pumpout station available per the park regulations. so I guess we will always have at least that.

yea 7 crowns definitely had better rates fr rentals....if it wasn't for them we might not be into boating....we used to go up to Echo and rent their antiquated pontoon boats for 1/2 day family trips.....fun fun! after a season and a 1/2 of renting we ended up buying a boat....thanks 7 Crowns!

Hey DAN thanks for all the tips! Ill definitely be grabbing a few of those fluorescent lights for some night fishing...prob grab a fish finder while Im there too

I never stayed in the hotel and only visited the restaurant a couple times, bummer 7 Crown was letting it slip..... But, I still rather have 7 Crown than Forever. I don't need a butler to powder my bum and bring me tea and crumpets  I have a feeling the poor road conditions have been hurting that place for years, heck, the road should have been done 5 years ago.

I saw the pavement from the hotel to restaurant to boat shop and like the improvement, they have redesigned the parking at Willow Beach too, makes more sense for traffic flow. What I don't get, why didn't they make the main drive through Echo wider? That's a narrow *#^@ when 2 big boats are going through.

Hey Vegas, Even a cheap FF is better than nothing. I'm running a low-mid level Eagle (Fishmark 480 ) in my big boat. I've been using them for years and not popping for the color untis, though that side imaging sonar looks cool, not $1000 worth of cool though :D
