Heading to Log bay at 9am this morning. Hopefully can get a mooring spot. Went at around 11:30am yesterday and it was packed beyond belief.

Betcha you had a nice day on the water yesterday. You might snag a mooring in "Sandy Bay" (Log Bay is the one across from Dome Isaland near Bolton Landing).

Catching a mooring after 9 AM during the summer vaction season at 11:30 is doubtful unless you catch someone leaving.

I get there early and we have breakfast after we hook up.

You caught a great week weather wise. Last July was pretty much rained out.

Don't forget about the metered docks at the southern most end of LG. Get a sticker at the meter on the sidewalk and walk around the town, grab a slice of pizza etc

It was Log Bay not Sandy bay no mooring. So I found out yesterday was the Yearly Log Bay bash they have. There was over 1500 boats they said at that location. Glad I didn't say. There was about 10 of us their today. Mostly locals and a couple of us NJers helping to get all the darn beer bottles out of log bay. We must of had 30 trash bags full of plastic cups and beer. Was rediculous.

Was going to go down to the Southern Meter parking tonight. I am at Tea Island so it should be a quick 5 minute ride down.

Yes we got real lucky with the weather here.

Re: Lake George

Did my first night cruise today. Took the boat over to Lake George town at 8pm. Got some ice cream and played in the arcade. Then headed back to the boat and did a nice little trip around the southern basin to see the moon rise over the east side mountains. Was a really nice night and calm. I am suprised how well my nav lights reflected the bouys outside. And my night vision was also alot better then I expected but I still won't try to ride at night in any body of water that I haven't been out in during daylight.

Was a great time but man those steamboats kept coming in the no wake zone.

This one was probaly 200 ft away.

Just shows you how small my boat really is. :)

Actually, it doesn't look like she's throwing any wake! Is Minne Ha HA up on plane!? :p

While it's always smart to be alert and defensive, maybe these tour boat pilots are more competent than the average boater. I have a feeling if they've been colliding with or swamping runabouts at anchor, they'd either be out of business or at least there would be a bad reputation that would be commonly known.

Great photo btw. Did you step this up, or was it more fortunate circumstance?

Ummm, the Mini HaHa is a flat bottom paddle boat. Doesn't throw much of a wake.

The Tourist boats need to get close to the shoreline to allow passengers to see the houses close up. That's probably why you saw them in the no wake zones!

Sorry not sure what you mean by?

Yea not much wake, but still when I am an 18 footer and have that huge steamboat coming right at me the first time and anchored, it was real scary. Hence getting my butt unanchored and moving quickly. That picture was right by Tea Island right by the 2nd no wake boey to the south. We didn't want to move as we were hitting the Large Mouth Bass good.
