I am going fishing on lake billy chinook with downriggers. I was going to take my steelhead poles MH action with 12 lb test. Should I go lighter? After lake trout,kokes and bull trout.

That set up would be OK for big lakers, but is far more than what's needed for bulltrout and Kokanee.

Kokanee have very soft mouths and need a flexible rod, glass rods work the best.
