That's crazy. I would have left too. We live
in the brush, no association. And a Board member complained about the color of someones shed, it was grey. That's about the time I would put pink flamingos everywhere, house may be hot pink too ..

Yes Musky it can get crazy and stupid. I find that many of those that run to become association Presidents have that little person Napoleonic syndrome. My nick name was "Johnny Flamingo" at a time when I spent toomuch time and $$ in the hotel in Vegas with the same name. On my 50th birthday I woke to find 50 pink Flamingo's on the lawn, I loved it.

The only places I've ever lived at that have rules where apartments when getting started. First house was in middle class neighborhood. As times got better I kept moving up, and could have moved to high end places but didn't. While I don't care for major unkept places, I like to be able to do what I want to do, when I want to do it.

Leave my truck or boat in the drive way, park in the grass, don't cut the grass, have crab grass, sit on the front porch and drink beer.

HOA's are for folks which like them, to each their own

I remember in the 80's when everyone our age was moving up and buying big houses. They didn't ask what you paid they asked "How many square feet." Who cares. I always said I only need 9 square feet, a 3X3 bathroom with a toilet. No toilet and you have a big problem no matter how big the Mc Mansion is. My former wife and I had a 3000 ftsq Mc Mansion with an HOA when we split up. There were rooms I never set foot in and some I wasn't allowed to. We were also given a warning that clothes could not be hung outside. The fire retardant work clothes I had to wear should not be put in a dryer as it would take out the stuff that might save my life. I fought that hard and won (I forgot that one) then decided "Exit stage left."
