Yes, I'm confident Clinton can be blamed for this somehow. On the other hand, with Bush in the White House, there are plenty of jobs available in the National Guard.

Re: Laid off.

Blame it on many things, like Alqueda, e-stocks, Clinton, bush ect.-----

Then, when you are done, put at least 16hours a day, both online, and on foot, searching for a better job than you had.
Make a resume. There are free sites online that can help you develope a resume'. There are also software packages that do the same.
Be sure to list every thing you learned how to do,as it pertains to the trade, and also any other talents that may give you an edge. But don't be wordy. The software will most likely help in that respect also.

And hang in there. Work hard at finding work. Apply for financial aid. After all, you've worked hard for it, and paid your fair share into these programs.
A good place to start is the phonebook. county/state unemployment office. They have listings and will guide you thru the beurocracy of assistance programs, and how to qualify.
I'm sorry to hear that you are out of werk.
Good luck in your new job of job-hunting.

Re: Laid off.

good luck flash. i was thinking you were in the construction business, which to me, always went up & down with economy. maybe the fact that we've had the dotcom boom/bust and the most significant tax table changes in a zillion years just happened in the last few years, and now the consumer scare of war again... has changed alot of things. plus all the illegal immigrant corralling had to affect housing.

from the people i know personally, who have been in construction, in atlanta, for the last 10yrs, they say its pretty stable for them. but, they said they're only involved with general contractors, and not the subs. it sounds like there are more longterm workers around here, and less turnover. which means you will have to search far & wide, and yet can get some benefits and job security when you take a job.

i haven't been in it for a while. are you trying to narrow the search for a specific job? the 3 i know all are related, and 2 of them came in as specialists- trim, then punchout. then moved into ties with the contractors. the other guy got with a startup contractor as an overseer.

i can call up my old contractor (on my house) if you tell me what you want to do. i haven't checked with him yet.
