I have pulled my inboard engine for transmission work. In the process, I noticed that at some time, someone had overdrilled the lagscrew holes, and used lag sheilds along with 3/8 lagscrews to reinstall the engine. I dont trust this, and I want to redo this right. There is no rot. How should I repair?

Get some good lags, my pref stainless. Soap them up. Fill the holes with epoxy resin and set the lags down in the epoxy. When it cures, back out the lags and mount your engine and screw down the lags. Budda bing! New threads and sealed stringer mounts.

I'm guessing that your motor mounts are probably drilled for 1/2" bolts.......

Boom's way is a Good 1....... Filling,+ redrilling is also an Option.........

#1 depending on how many holes there are, worst case is to bore a 1 inch hole, remove any broken bolts, finish boring to 3 inches, resin in a hardwood dowel and fiberglass it. and redrill for new lags.
#2 use 3/8 x3 x3 alum. angle bolted to the stringer and bolt the mounts down. all depends on the existing mounts to raise them up the 3/8 of the plate to do the alignment when you reinstall the motor.
