Hey ppl.. Boat is an 87 bayliner contessa 2850 with 460/king cobra drive. I wanted to get at the raw water impeller, so thinking to make it easier to work on I threw a battery in the big dirty, hit the trim switch, aaaaaaand...... 'click'... 'click' yup, no movement of the drive.. did some quick searching/t-shooting, got lots of power, solenoid is the click, but pump motor is not turning.. sort of. I jumped 12v to the trim pump motor itself (direct to the connector with jumper wires) and i hear a high pitch whine, like the motor is stuck, or maybe just cant turn (?) Has anyone had a similar issue?
Most other electrical is working, some needed a jiggle of wires/connections, possibly have some bad ground issues as the trim tabs arn't working either.. the boat sat dormant on land for 4 years, (not covered either..) I'm assuming a few things are gona be sticking/corroded and require some 'persuasion' to come back to life..
Add on question; Is the drive trim pump/assy 'the same' across the board for all omc cobras 86-89?
