Found out today the kill switch on my 4.3gl volvo penta i/o is bad. Problem is it has three wires on the back. One is purple w/ 12 volts, one is orange and the last one is purple without voltage. So obviously w/ lanyard attached the circuit is closed between the two purple wires...right? What is the orange wire for and where can i get a three wire replacement? After many hours searching I've found only two wire and four wire replacement kill switches.

Re: Kill switch wiring

You didn't say if the ORG had power on it. You shouldn't be working without a schematic.

Re: Kill switch wiring

I have a schematic inside the shop manual but guess what... it doesn't show a kill switch. Therefore I am here asking for help from other experienced boat owners who may have something of substance to add.
