Re: Keys....

Wouldn't it be easier to have a spare truck key in your tool box?

Locksmith used one of those spring bars to let the blond into her car. She made the comment, "wouldn't it be nice if there was a purse sized tool to get into your car." Reply was, "It's already been invented. It's called a key."

Re: Keys....

Keeping your boat covered would deter the lookers I would think . If the boat you are talkn' bout' is the one in your avatar, it looks rather interesting. I would probably take a look at it myself if I was walkn ' by! I would take a look at a 50 year old car as well. Perhaps they are just admiring it ????? Nice boat .....

Re: Keys....

This is the reason I keep thinking I want to make a switch for off-run and have a push button for the starter and not even mess with keys...Keys are a false sense of security with boats imho...

How many boat keys are there really, many are keyed the same. Merc uses somthing like 10 keys for all their switches. Be farthere ahead to put a kill safe switch that keeps motor from starting if not turned on. Have left keys in switch on boat still there a week later but in small, remote marina so things are safe to a point.

Not having the key is a minor inconvenience if you're stealing a Mercury. If security is the issue, you're barking up the wrong tree.

Re: Keys....

I figure that I will never be without my truck when I am taking my boat out so keys stay in my truck.
