I've got a Yamaha VX and have lost the key fob. Of course the starting capability is turned off. Is there away to over ride this function? Dose the fob just stop the cranking motor from cranking, or does it also turn off the electric to the motor starting ignition? Thanks

Re: Key Fob

There is no way to override the key fob. This is part of the security system. You will need to buy a new fob (cheapest place to find them is on Ebay). At the dealerships they are $150. You will then need to take the ski to a dealer and let them hook the ski up to a programming box to program the ski to work with your new fob. In some very rare cases you may get lucky and buy a new fob that already will work with your ski, but that is like 1 in a 100 chance. If the dealer is doing their job they will require you to show them your title for the ski before they program the ski for the new fob. Usually the dealer will charge you $20 or so to do this. The whole system is designed to make it very hard for someone to steal a locked ski.
