Keel damaged

I'm a first time boat owner, just purchased a '96 Wellcraft 190 CCF. One of many issues I have found is the damaged keel and also the ribs (I dont know what they're called) on both sides of the keel. I bought some gelcoat paste and was planning on trying to sand down, acetone wash and try that. Also should mention, I have never touched any type of fiberglass work. Please let me know your thoughts.

Grind/sand and fill with your gelcoat paste, or make your own next time by adding some cabosil to regular gelcoat. Wet sand and buff to fair it in to the surrounding areas.

Looks like a lot of beaching was done. Had the same issue with the Chaparral. It was a lake boat and beached all the time on sandbars by the PO. After fixing the gelcoat on mine, I added a Keelguard to protect it. Small investment for some added protection. Especially since I boat in rivers and like to be in the shallows every so often.

Yea I bought it from a guy at lake texoma. Beaching at the islands was my guess. I went ahead and ordered a keel guard also.
