Check the operation of the choke and change the fuel/water seperator filter and the filter in the carb as well, clean the spark arrester (air filter)
with carb cleaner. When you start up cold give the throttle one full push forward and then return to neutral and start the motor. allow it to come up to operating temp and then check the choke plate to make sure its open. See if that makes a difference.

Not sure where to find the fuel/water seperator filter or the filter in the carb.
I have a 1 barrel solex carb on a volvo aq125a motor/270 volvo leg. Not sure if this carb has a choke. my knowledge on carbs is very limited. This is my first boat.
thanks.

1 problem sounds like accelerator pump
(top of carb, brass candy cane pointing down)
should have steady stream of gas when throttle
opened. 2 prob could be stuck float.
carbs are simple and few parts, mainly gaskets.
There are different jets, venturiis, acc pissers
avail but not needed.
the float valves are subject to contamination
the acc pisser is a diaphram the gets brittle.
the duration of the acc **** is adjustable.
there is no choke

Would a good carb cleaner spray (B-12 or Gumout) resolve this problem or am I in a need to rebuild?
any good gas additives that might help?
could it be my fuel pump?
Thank you all once again for the knowledge shared!

Thanks for all help. I've cleaned the carb but same problem just not as bad. if I sit and let the engine warm up no problems. except the 5 mph loss of speed. I'll open another post since the initial problem has been resolved.
END POST.
THANK YOU ALL!!!
