Re: just thought i would share my new project

the inside pics are of the custom furniture, the starboard corner seat still needs a backrest, it currently houses a portable flushing toilet. the other houses marine deepcycles.
the railing in the pic is my 1st attempt at copying their railings and I still have to put the sheet metal pn the lower portion and put in a few more vertical braces.... it is 6061 T6 aluminum 1" square tubing.... I created my own bended and it only took me 10ft of tubing to figure it out.... not too bad lol.

Re: just thought i would share my new project

well i have to put some more pics up, of the finished gate, the finished fence panel and what she looks like floating on the water (will be sat before she floats)
She is not finished, but the trailer needs work and modification easiest done without the boat on it. so she will float saturday morning....for at least 6 or seven hours... maybe longer while the repairs and mods are done to the trailer, the engine will get tested out and if I am lucky I will get the other electric motor finished prior to sat.... so that we can do a dirty test of the electric drive system as well. it is going to be an exciting weekend.

nice project, its almost 100% like my project, except of the enclosure, bought around the same time and same year and model, and work required

looks like you extended the deck, what did you use for the aluminum edgeing? we extended the front and rear havent decided on the edging.

Nice job Sean. Looks like your in for a fun season. The best part is that you can relax as you seem to have a ready and willing captain on board with you.:)

Re: just thought i would share my new project

as to what was used for the edging once we extended the deck...lol the original edging was used....now before you LOL at me, let me explain.
extending deck fwd and rearward gave me a 4' extension of usable deck space (and after running her about a bit last weekend as we had to work on trailer I really appreciate the extra space.)
Originally tracker used the edge trim on the deck front back sides and....(this is the key) around ea pontoon at the front as they put lil neat individual decks on ea fwd pontoon. So when we rearranged everything....i looked at the long lengths (sides) and at the back.... and started fitting... found that 1 front pontoon piece of edging on ea side of the new fwd deck was all that was needed.... used the inside pieces of fwd pontoon edging for the BACK of the cabin area with a lil judicious cutting and bending. still have 1 piece left over from the job... the original back piece. I think that if i didn't have edging that would work i likely would have chosen 4x4x1/8" T6 aluminum angle and used that in place. personally i think that would have looked better and smoother, but i am running on a budget from hell...so I use what i have if it will look acceptable and work without problems. that is also why the front corners of my deck are trimmed (dog eared) a bit so that they would work with the original edging.

on a side note....floated boat saturday so i could work on trailer (which now looks like a proper pontoon trailer) and she was arse heavy (not entirely unexpected) so by moving people around i found 450-500lbs of people at the bow made her sit level.... so rather than standard removable bassboat style seats in the two front corners... I am going to make two cubes one for each swivel seat to bolt to.... they will house the 4 deepcycle batteries two from the rear and an extra pair... once i get these changes made....then off to the scales to weigh in, find out my hitch weight, trailer weight....so that i can be assured i am both legal and safe... then perhaps (very high probability) i will have to move my axle fwd to counter the balance as when we loaded her up on the newly refinished trailer... and she fit perfectly...she now sits 10" further fwd...added to the batteries going up front.... well almost certain that i will have to mod the trailer axle location.
anyhow....boat purred along at about 8-10 mph at 3500 rpm with my lil 20hp and a 7p three blade. at full throttle i touched 5500-5800rpm but as expected lil speed gain as I am operating as a displacement vessel not as a planing one. however it means prop is about perfect for combination. ride was typical pontoon with heavy load... soft and gentle. cabin was wonderful to escape from suns rays and my sis in law was fishing out the windows.
my ready and willing 3yr old captain got about 20 min of wheel time as well in the middle of the lake when no one else was near.... i think he is hooked lol.... will update with new pics soon. and trailer weights... if anyone interested in trailer weights.... when i reweigh i will have distance from ball to axle and from transom to ball... that way perhaps others wondering can get a good idea of what to expect from moving a trailer axle x distance.
