Kinda. The government has to borrow the money it uses. That's why our government owes $7,923,693,769,886.99 as of Sept 29, 8:24PM GMT. BTW, that's $26,652 for each citizen in the United States.<br /><br />The government gets that money (which it owes) by borrowing from various sources, including foreign countries. As of late, China's participation in loans to us has grown significantly.

FWIW: I think the population of N.O. is around 1.2 Million. That works out to about $167000 for each citizen not $500000 (200,000,000,000/1.2MM=approx$167000)<br />($167000X 1,200,000,000=approx 200Billion)<br />And if you divide 200 Billion among the current US population of approximately 297Million, that works out to $675/per citizen. Since we are trillions in debt, and nobody wants to raise taxes, in theory nobody will ever pay for it anyway. No biggie...

LF thanks. <br /><br />I have relatives in Seattle and on the other side of the hill you guys call a mountain( )Prosser WA.<br /><br />Thats funny as Uncle John said wow were at 4000 ft elevation in that pass. I told him Albuquerque is 5000 ft and our house is EXACTLY 5280ft altitude!
