Hello everybody. I must say, it's pretty cool watching some of you 'masters'
bringing these old beautys back to life. I'm learning a lot and will need lots of
help next year when I plan to tear down the 15' Riviera that's in the garage.
As for now, I'm having loads of questions answered in the repair/mainentance
section and I must add, those guys are great. Here's a question for you
modders/rebuilders, and please forgive the lack of a photo as I'm at work and
I just had the question come over me and it's gotta be asked.

Anyway....the Riviera is, as a lot of you know, a Tri-Hull; your standard removable top part, glassed in plywood floor, etc. etc. There's a bilge area
against the stern that's approximatley 12" x 12" I would guestimate. There's
never been a bilge pump and it's obviously the place for one to go. So,
should I install one and if so, where's the best place to run the hose? I've been spending all my time on motor/wiring, etc. so I haven't gotten any real
water-time on the boat to know if there's a water issue. However, I did notice
that the bilge area is right in front of the boat's main drain plug. It stands to
reason that if there's not a great seal, then water will leak around that plug
alone, right?

Thanks in advance, and it's forums like this that make the internet actually
make sense.

I would certainly add a pump. The output on my boat is here http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w200/ezmobee/New Boat/DSCF2135.jpg (white thing on the side)

I'm a bit fan of this pump http://www.iboats.com/SeaSense-Auto...8387172--**********.161133124--view_id.392307 as it has a simple built in float switch for automatic operation as well as manual. The base is removable so you can remove it, glue it to your hull bottom with 5200, then insert the pump back in it when it's good and solid. A plumbing kit will give you the fitting and hose that you need for installation http://www.iboats.com/Seasense-Bilg...08387172--**********.161133124--view_id.56027

And yeah, bilge plugs so leak a little sometime especially if they're old.
