Hi, I just got a old Johnson today attached to it was a 17 foot Larson.
Old school boat and equipment even was boasting the in-dash 8 track player.
(I kid you not) But The whole package didn't cost me a cent. So how could I
pass it up?:D

Now I need to know about this motor and from experience I've found this to be
the place to come. All I know is the following...

Model # V4AL-14L
Serial# 2317775

Any and all info will be much appreciated!
Even if you use to use this motor (or know someone who did etc.) and have only
an opinion or hearsay to offer, plz share!
I might put this on one of my project boats if deemed worth while. Thx!

it's a 1962 75hp johnson. V4 and i think has the distributer on the back run by a belt. they are great old engines. a little tempermental to tune, but once tuned, run great, they also like gas. fuel oil mix i believe, to be 24:1. check compression, spark. etc.

just check and looks like all general maintainance parts are available at :
http://www.laingsoutboards.com/newp...ncludes Gale, Sea King up to 1963, and others

Thx TD thats really helpful! :)

But do you or anyone else have any advice about how I should go about
starting
this thing? Its all set up on the boat, it just hasn't been ran in 20 years.

Aside from replacing the plugs and squirting a little WD40 in there, and giving it
fresh gas I'm clueless. Is it ok to run this motor on muffs?
