Just bought my first boat - My first post

Hey folks

So I just bought my first boat, a 1988 Sunray Cavalier with a 60HP Evinrude. I've been boating all my life, but never actually owned one until now. It's an older boat and needs a bit of work, but it runs well. Hopefully I haven't taken on a money pit. I know it needs new carpeting and maybe some gel coat crack repair, but hopefully I'll get a few years out of her. This forum seems to be a great community of boaters and I hope to get a great deal out of being a member. I'd also appreciate any feedback on the boat, tips, things to watch for etc.. from the experts.

Welcome Mahones. That looks like a perfect starter boat I'm new here, too. Lots of great people and info. Get to know this feature of the forum and you can find anything you need

Nice little boat you got there,I too started the boating life purchasing an 87 cavalier for my first boat that was in decent shape when I got it, an older gentleman owned it since new and even had the original sales brochure to go with it...my wife and I have spent our first year out on the water almost every weekend ,and I must say...no regrets. The 70hp yamaha purrs like a kitten and the boat handles remarkably well,even when towing a 3 person tube .Ive since made up new covers,added a bimini top,and bluetooth stereo and fishfinder...looking forward to many more ,and hopefully trouble free years to come...for a 35 year old boat it's certainly help up over the years...I hope yours treats you as well as mine has.
