Hi, I just acquired this motor. Paid $100. From a co-workers husband. He said he didn't know too much about it. It looks like someone was monkeying with it. The bolts are missing to the lower end. I put a boroscope in the plug hole and it looks like its seized.
My questions are:
Where do I get a manual (digital is ok)
Are there pistons and rings available? Is boring the cylinders possible?
TIA

could be just stuck a bit drop the lower end and see if the flywheel turns ...

if yes.. problem is in LU ... repair what is wrong

if not...could be just stuck rings... soak the pistons with some release agent , marvel oil, wd-40 etc... retry in a few days to turn the FW

no go ? the pull the cyl head alternately wack the pistons with a 1 inch peg x 12 inches and a hammer firm blows alternating check FW for movements (scribe a mark for referrence)

no go ? soak again retry in a few days

took me a week to clear up a 9.5hp I ended up with a fine kicker.

still no go :-( major decisions ahead

Remove the plate on side of exhaust.-----Take out one screw on the shift connecter.

That's an electric start model (relatively rare). See if the stater gear is hung up on the flywheel. See if you can rotate the flywheel slightly by hand. Note that the shift handle has been rotated out of the way, which is a nice feature for removing the hood. But rotate it until it clicks in place, then put it in the neutral position.

Ok, got it dropped. The flywheel is not moving. The starter gear is clear of the ring gear. It's in neutral but I assume that doesnt matter with the lower unit off. I'm going to soak the pour some kroil through the plug holes and I'll report back in a week or so. Thanks for the help.

If the flywheel can not be turned then likely the motor needs to come apart.----Water / moisture may have corroded the needle bearings well beyond economical repairs.
