1972 100hp the outboard stays in forward. I found that the switch in the control box is broken. Im told these are hard to come by? Can you use a regular three way toggle and if so what wire is common? I have a blue. purple and green. Does any one know where to get an original?

The switches are no longer available from BRP but you may find them at TwinCity Outboards, Seaway Marine or iShopMarine. The PN is 385253. When last priced, the ran around $98 new. There is a way to wire a toggle switch but then you lose your start in Neutral protection.

Joe Reeves had at one time posted how to do the toggle. I'll see if I can find it.

The requirements are purple connected to green for neutral, purple connected to both green and blue for reverse, no connection for forward. I guess a DPDT switch could be used to accomplish that, although I've never tried it.

I think it can be done with a DPDT switch where one side controls direction and the other controls ignition.
