Are you talking derating as to size of horsepower, and derated how much? Women try it all the time, but it's still hard to hide that cover.

Probably by fitting a 25 hp carburetor on it.<br /><br />But, why would you ever want to do this? Is there some legal inspection that the 35 is failing because the boat is rated for less maximum power? You never hear about anyone wanting to LOWER their boat's power.<br /><br />Also, Johnson made 35 hp engines from 1957 up to recently. What year engine is yours?

yes i need to lower the kilowatts by about 5kws for a fishing license.i don,t know the age it is a seahorse model no e35balcnd ser no b010234 les

Hi Les Mccauley<br /><br />You can reduce power to around 20-25 HP by putting on a 20Hp carb, which has a nylon restrictor inside the bore, and by reducing igniton advance by 2 deg. I dont think you can recuce power more and make it run good.

Buy a 25 hp sticker! :D Who'd even know if you had your carb changed and how could you prove it?<br /><br />...or I'm sure many 25 hp owners would love to trade with your 35 hp. It would cost you nothing.
