No, the power coil provides power for the Quickstart and S.L.O.W. logic system in the power pack. The charge coils provide power for the ignition side off the power pack. A wild guess after the flywheel magnets are check, and the motor will turn 5500 rpm and put the boat on plane without misfiring. The power pack is bad or bad connections.

clanton I checked what you said and here are the results. pack charge coil: a-b=913, c-d=947. I first checked the sensor on the right of my pack if your are looking at it a= 1.687, b=5.63, c=1.284 left side a=14.85, b=5.54, c=1.107 and the two d's=2.684. Does this sound like what you are looking for? you dont know how much this means to me. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!

Power coil test between E. F. should be 96+- 10 ohms, same connector as charge coil. Looks like the timer is whacked out. This is only 1/3 of the tests, the other 2/3 require a peak reading meter.

clanton, e-f=97.8 what should i do from here to get the whole scoop. Do you have an idea what the problem is? I just feel unsure about the mechanics who have already taken me for a ride. Will this also affect the running of the boat as far as speed?

Look at www.esitest.com for DVA adapter, with this and a meter with 400 volt DC scale, you can check the output voltage. What kind of meter do you have?

Re: johnsongt150

Your meter should be fine, still need the DVA adapter. The timer is way out of spec

You said you replaced the power pack. New
packs for OMC are hard to come by until Nov.
Theirs a company in Alabama that rebuilds
packs and many dealers sell them. They've
been known to have a bad one now and then. You might have your pack checked out, could be thats the problem.
Good Luck
