Johnson year & hp

I read all the other posts but I am still unable to fiqure out its year and hp.
Model: 983775
Serial: J366245.
The cowling says OMC sea drive, and the outboard is mounted on away from transom on a bracket, the boat is a 1987 17' Proline.
The boat sank and the cylinders appear siezed, (I have to remove the frozen starter) but I am interested in a reliable replacment for this motor. The boat is @ 08723.

Do me a favor, check the model number on the motor again, I check back through 1969 and I saw no motor with just numbers in the model number. They all have a combination of number and letters. The J as you already know is for Johnson, but all the model numbers I seen for Johnson has more letters.

The model # will be inside the starboard lower cowl, right about where the shift and throttle linkages are.
