kenny, on my motor the switch went bad. i just traced the wires, and installed a 3 position 20 amp toggle switch. true it does not have memory as some of the new ones do.

Kenny....are you sure it's the TNT switch on the throttle handle and not the down relay at the engine? Quick way to find out is to swap the up/down relays. If the problem reverses to down only, relay bad.

I had a broken wire inside the handle on my boat. Took it apart soldered a new piece of wire and as good as new now. So, grab your ohm meter and check those wires----

If what OBJ said doesn't do it, you will need to remove the remote control unit and dissasemble it, in order to get to the switch. No easy way around it.. But I sure would check the relays, as suggested, first..

Done checked relays problem is the throttle handle switch. Seems like there should be a way to remove the switch for replacement. If it is such a problem to replace,do you think it may be easier to buy switch for the steering wheel and just bypass the old switch?

Ken....find the connector for the wire from the handle and pull it apart. With an ohm meter, do some make break readings from the red wire to the green and blue wire. If the switch is bad, this should show you. To get to the switch, the control handle needs to come off. One screw (allen wrench type) holds the handle on. You will have to get to it from the back of the control box. After the handle is off, getting to the swtich is easy.
