johnson motor problems

boat starts fine and idles fine but when I give it gas to go the motor just dies. any ideas on what could be the problem please help, my motor is a 92 faststrike.

Could be lots of things.Can you punch the throttle through the flat spot before it dies or will it just not progress at all?Could be anything from carb link and synch , fouled carburetors,failing fuel pump or ignition issue. Need more data.Has it been running fine recently?Did ther engine set up out of use for a spell?Is compression and spark good on all cylinders?

Mine behaved the same way. My experience with 2-stroke motorcycles indicated water in float bowl. Viola, that's what it was.
