JOHNSON GT 10

hi, i need some help i have a pull start Johnson gt 10 , i do not know the year, no more than 10 years old.. the pull start recoil spring came undone and the cord only get puled in sooo far, if i want to start it i have to take the motor cover off and wind the cord in by hand. i did that over and over this passing weekend trying to turn over the motor, she would not start , i checked the choke, the kill switch was in., gas was good., but she would not turn over. any suggestions, i also need a suggestions n how to repair the spring for the pull cord , thanx K MAN
