Johnson/Evinrude shift rod length?

I've got A refurbished lower unit for A 1978 Johnson/Evinrude 70 hp model# 70873C and need to know what the shift rod length should be adjusted to.I was unsure if it makes A huge difference but you all are the gurus of the water so here I am.Thanks alot everybody!

It should stay as it was,it was replaced with the same L/U. the adjustment adjusts the upper shift rod not the lower. as long as it was working correctly before the rebuilt unit.
I'm not a Guru just a novice!

I don't have the spec for it but hopefully somebody will chime in with it. Make sure it is correct before the g/c is installed otherwise you may be talking off the g/c again.

In neutral measuring from gearcase flange to center of shift rod hole is 21 inches and 23/32

Just got on here to search for same thing, but on a 1976 85hp. Is it the same measurment? Got a used lower unit and want to be sure its at the right height!
