I have a 1978 3cyl. 75HP Johnson Stinger...75ELR78C...lower unit ceased. 21.5" 4 spline shaft.
WILL a 1973 3cyl. Evinrude 65HP model #65373R be a compatible matchup? Same shaft...
everything lines up...Just wondering about power/torque.
Is the lower unit in the pic off the 1973 65 hp? If it is I believe it is off of at least a 78 or newer motor and should work fine. Somebody will correct me if I am wrong.
The 73 models shifted to FORWARD with a down motion of the shift rod.------The 78 model shifted to FORWARD with an up motion of the shift rod.-----It is not a direct swap.----Some knowledge is required to make it work.
