Recently purchased an older 90 hp 2 stroke. The fuel connection at the motor has a second hose coming off it the previous owner cut and plugged. Does anyone know what this line is for? Could it be the cause of air being introduced into fuel line?

Need more information. What is the model number on the identification tag of the outboard you are asking about?

Usually that is the oil injection oil tank hose on carb'd 2 stroke outboard when oil injection is disabled. Definitely do not run that outboard unless you do pre-mix TCW-3 50:1 fuel.

Pictures up close of what you are talking about also help alot. If you have a google drive or google photos account, you could share a link to the photo.

I would definitely do a compression test on it and post the numbers before spending any money on parts for it.

Correct that is the oil line going to the VRO unit.----Perhaps it was properly converted with a conventional pump mounted directly over the pulse port.-----Fuel pump would be small and mounted directly in front of starter.----Do the compression test.---Post the actual values here.

Thank you, I was thinking it may be a disconnected vro line. I checked the compression cold and got 90-90-90-90. Local mechanic checked and got 145 across 4 cylinders. Not sure why the discrepancy. Engine model no. J90TLEND. I think it's a 92. For some reason this forum isn't allowing me to upload photos. Is it possible the vro line is allowing air into the fuel system?

Cheap mass produced compression tester gauges are not calibrated properly.

Many people complain about it. Compression tester is better for showing drastic changes in a single cylinder or as a comparison for multiple cylinders.

The two best tools for true diagnosing of a cylinder condition without diassembling anything is a leak down tester gauge and a high resolution borescope that can inspect all areas of the cylinder.
