Hey guys, new here. Loads of great reading indeed. I have a 74' 9.9 Johnson motor. Green w/ white case cover... Model # is 10R74S

My question is as follows. The motor has not run for 3 years, and I am curious what precautions I can take before I drop it in the water and pull the cord... What to check / replace ... tips or tricks... I run it up here on small lakes in Canada on a 12' McCulloch aluminum boat. Was itchin' to get it in the water next week so replies would be great...

P.S

- Last run no issues
- Cosmetically good shape
- Stored in warm environment

Re: Johnson 9.9 Not Run For 3 Years

Here's a good thread on waking up a sleeping outboard. I'd say you need to replace the impeller at a minimum and check the gearcase oil.

Your outboard is a 2-stroke, with Fuel:Oil ratio of 50:1.

After reading that thread, please ask any other questions you may have. Odds are, your outboard will come back to life easily. Those are very reliable workhorses.
