Johnson 9.9 4-stroke wires x'ed

Just purchased a used 9.9 4-stroke 1996 - I think? J10FREDC to get it home had to lay on its side - therefore once mounted on transom removed the plugs and cranked over <br />unfortunately I think I may have swithced the plug wires - how can I tell which cylinder / which wire <br />

That model checks as a '96 model. If you get the spark leads backwards, it will not start at all. If they're the right way, it'll start. It will not harm the engine if they're backwards (just your pulling arm).
