First lets start this off as i bought a small skiff with a 1996 johnson 70horse earlier this year well after getting it home the boat wouldnt run so i had a mecahinic friend of mine take on the task. The seller had claimed the motor had recently gotten a new powerhead and ran like a top. Well it did run... a couple new jets in the carbs and it was screaming. Then came the leak. The powerhead was leaking at the adapter because whoever had rebuilt the motor put the gasket on backwards.. really?? Im no mechanic and i could tell it wasnt right. Well thats fixed some new fuel lines and i was on the water. But then i found this issue. The boat runs fine at about 3/4 throttle all day but if i try to open it up itll run for about 5 seconds then sounds like it just blew up. Runs very rough and loses power like its only bangin on f i back it down to just an idle in gear itll sound normal but f you try anything overthat it runs rough so i idle around for 10-15 minutes and ione cyl. can open her back up to 3/4 throttle. If i shut it off after it does wat it does after wot and restart it runs fine. Any ideas? The vro has been removed also
