I just tried to turn on this Boat i just got last week for the first time ..and it wont crank ? dont really here anything when i turn they key ..any ideas anyone how to get this engine running ???

battery connected ?? shifter in neutral ?? try starting and wiggle the shifter a bit

That would have a push button shift function.----Not sure if wiggling the lever helps.

Actually, if it has the Johnson control, it would be a single lever with a shift switch activated by the lever (not the Evinrude push buttons) The '72 shift switch does have start-in-neutral function.
