I have a 1980's 4.5 johnson that has been running pretty good unitil now. Today when I was out trolling all of a sudden it acting like it was starving for fuel and kept stalling. I had to keep choking it it would start but not stay running long. I just added fuel to the 2.5 gallon tank yesterday. Before I get into fule filters and such could this be a bad gas issue? I am thinking of either adding sea foam or just emptying the tank and add fresh fuel. Thanks for any advice!

anything clogging orifices ,filters, hose etc... will starve it so a close inspection of all the fuel route is required. incl. fuel pump cap. !!

pump the bulb and if it runs ok suspect the fuel pump

Water pump impeller replaced every 5 years ??-----Do a compression test and check spark.----Sounds like it is running on 1 cylinder.
