Jackplate

I currently have a Mercury 225 EFI with a 10 inch setback jackplate on a 23 foot v-bottom skiff. There was a 225 pro-v previously and the boat went 52 on gps...but now only does 44 with the same prop. Has anyone experienced a mph loss with a jackplate?

Have you experimented with the height of your jackplate? It's likely that it's not at the optimum height for your hull/engine/prop combination. Maybe try raising it in 1/2 inch increments, KEEPING AN EYE ON WATER PRESSURE.

came down one inch.too much cavation.would not plane.still cavitates some when i turn so i think i am still a little too high.
