You really think a cinder/concrete block is safe to use as cribbing / blocking? I hope your life insurance policy is up to date
As JAS stated, point loading vs bonded surface loading.
Assume 5000# load, one point loaded over a 1" long x .1" wide area. One surface loaded over its 60 sq inched
Point loading is applying about 40000 psi to a single point, where surface loading is only applying 83.3 psi to the surface
