From what I can see, Abramoff and the companies that he owns/chairs, gave just over 1.5 million to Democrats over the last four election cycles and 1 million more to the republicans. What was legitimate and what was not, remains to be seen. I'm sure there is corruption on both sides of the isle.<br />Anyone who thinks the Dems have no power and therefore wouldn't be bribed, is out-of-touch, they have plenty of power. If it wasn't for the Dems, we would be drilling for oil in Anwar, the Patriot act would have been extended for years, etc. Does anyone really think Ted Kennedy is "above reproach" ?

But it turns out that the most prominent player in Abramoffs web of influence was reportedly none other than Senates top Democrat, Harry Reed . In a little noticed story in November, The ASSOCIATED PRESS revealed that Reid had recieved tens of thousands of dollars from an Abramoff client, the Coushatta Indian tribe, after interceding with Secratary of the Interior Gail Norton over a casino dispute with a rival tribe. Reid "sent a letter to Norton on March 5,2002 reported the AP." The next day the Coushatts issued a check for $5000 to Reids tax-exempt political group,the Searchlight Leadership Fund. A second tribe represented by Abramoff sent an additional $5000 to Reids group. Reid ultimately recieved more than $66000 in Abramoff related donations between 2001 and 2004."
