Jabsco 29090-3000 Manual toilet question

My boat originally had a vacuflush toilet system in it. The vaccum eventually went bad and after trouble shooting everything, I decided I was done with the vacuflush and going to a Manual pump head. I purchased the jabsco 29090-3000, but know I've heard I can not use this because I'll be using my fresh water tank to flush the unit rather than raw water. Has anyone used a manual pump head with a fresh water tank? If so, do you just hook it up like normal with a vented loop? Any advice would be great!

Tricky question. I have a Raritan raw water flush toilet. The P.O. of my boat installed a separate fresh water tank, with its own deck fill, plumbed strictly for the toilet. He added a Y-valve and I can flush with either fresh or raw (I never use the raw). There's zero possibility of backflow to the 'house' fresh water tank. In general, I've read a lot more 'don't do it' than not concerning what you're contemplating.
