I was out on the lake last weekend when the tach dropped to zero rpm with the engine running. I shut down and looked under the dash to make sure no connections came loose. Everything was solid. I then put a meter across my battery terminals and fired up the motor to find that it wasn't charging across any rpm range. My question is; can the stator fail and cause this no charge situation, or is it the rectifier that fails first taking out the stator. The reason I ask is the rectifier was replaced last fall… when it went bad last time the tach would randomly jump around, Now it just sits at zero. There is no change in tach operation when I put the gray tach signal wire to the yellow lead coming off the rectifier. The resistance on the stator brown/yellow to brown is 570ohms. Just trying to get some input before I order any parts.
Thanks,
Jacob
